Special Message

Special Message from our U13C Black Wings

First of all I have to say how blown away we are as a team! What started as a small act of kindness blew up into a beautiful act by our hockey families and our local community.
We as a team wanted to do something to support the Richard family and to honour Brady Richard #BeBradyBrave
But what happened after that was something pretty wonderful. We reached out to our team to sell tickets to their family and friends. This set our plan into action, we sent emails to the teams we were playing against the last week of the regular season. Let them know we were doing a little something to show our support and that we would be selling 50/50 tickets and candy bags.
With all their support at each game this little act of kindness grew. People wanted to do something for Brady and they wanted his family to know that they were thinking of them.
Our local community’s response on social media was heartwarming. You reached out and shared your stories and your support for the Richard family.
??
Hockey families you are AMAZING! Players you should be proud of yourself. You helped us exceed our goal and make this small act of kindness truly reflects your love for Brady Richard and his family. You helped show his family that we support them.

Special thanks to:
Cole Harbour U13 C White Wings
Dartmouth Whalers U13 C Hurricanes
Dartmouth Whalers U13 C Orcas
East Hants U13 C White Penguins
Bedford Blues U13A Blue
Dartmouth Whalers U13A
Harbour City Lakers Ringette

Our 50/50 raised $4070 in a week to support the Richard family. The winner of the draw was Darcy Kellegrew taking home $2035.
Darcy has donated his portion of the 50/50 back to the Richard family.
?? Another incredible act of kindness.

Thank you for making this small act of kindness into a huge success.

In Memory of Brady Richard

IN MEMORY - #5 BRADY RICHARD

Our hockey community has joined together to honour a brave young player and say good-bye.

For every game played against Brady Richard's Dartmouth Whalers this past week, the players from both teams would come together as one group for a minute of heavy silence. A tribute for a fallen player.

Brady 1 Brady 2 Brady 3 Brady 7

Support from the hockey community does not end when we leave the rink. Players and their families lined the streets this past weekend tapping hockey sticks as a send off to their fellow player.

Brady 4

Cole Harbour U13C Black Wings are holding a 50/50 draw with the proceeds being donated to Brady Richard's family.

Independent Third Party Investigations

 Independent Third-Party Investigations

Hockey Canada and Hockey Nova Scotia want to end the culture of silence that exists in parts of hockey. To help ensure that we are a safe space for raising concerns, Hockey Canada has established a new, fully independent and confidential reporting mechanism for all individuals.

This process is for all hockey related maltreatment, sexual violence, harassment, abuse, or discrimination complaints. Definitions and examples of prohibited behaviours can be found in the Universal Code of Conduct to Prevent and Address Maltreatment in Sport (UCCMS). Click here for more information on UCCMS

A key feature of the Independent Third-Party structure is its independence from Hockey Canada. The Independent Third Party has sole jurisdiction to handle complaints and keeps the identity of complainants confidential from Hockey Canada and Member associations. Click here for more information on the Discipline and Complaints policy

Reporting Abuse or Harassment is often a difficult process. The Independent Third Party is committed to operating in a trauma informed manner.
Complaints can be submitted by email to complaints@sportcomplaints.ca

Hockey Canada adopted the UCCMS in October 2022, and CHBAMHA adopted the UCCMS in our revised September 2022 Code of Conduct.
The Independent Third Party (ITP) process is intended for prohibited behaviours covered by the UCCMS.

All other complaints are to be dealt with by the existing CHBAMHA processes.

If you have any questions or concerns about the process, please contact Scott Graham at riskmanagement@chbawings.org.
