Developmental Weekend
We're now finalizing the schedule for Developmental Weekend Nov 3 and 4.
We have about twice as much ice as last year so we're getting lots of CHBA
coaches to help out plus a few invitees.
We'll put schedules in your boxes as well as post-up at CHP as soon as
things are finalized.
Important: Remember, you and your assistant coaches are EXPECTED to
accompany your teams.
Please help out the coaches that are running your sessions.  This is a
COMMUNITY effort!
HNS told me we're the best example of a well-run Developmental Weekend.
Let's keep up the reputation.
More news will follow...

Certifications
As you may know, Bruce Jarvis is coordinating the coaching certification
programs and registry with CHBA this year.
As HEAD COACHES, you need to ensure that the folks behind the bench and on
the ice have the proper qualifications;
Same with Criminal Background Checks.
Simply check with Bruce on what's needed and he can set you up with clinic
dates etc.
The HNS clinics are filling up quickly so you need to act fast.

Developmental Aids
Bruce will also have the keys to the Resource Library outside the CHBA
Hockey Room at CHP.
It's got lots of goodies including the Skills of Gold DVDs and Serdachney
skills DVDs, so be sure to take advantage of the information.

In addition, we'll be putting copies of a developmental philosophy guide
into your mailboxes.
Barry Wisener handed these out last year and the response was very
positive.
If you already have one, please pass along to your assistant coaches.

I'm also forwarding a Goaltenders Coaching Guide.  I'll do this
electronically so you can e-mail it to whomever you choose.
I'll also put copies in your boxes at CHP for the Head Coaches to give to
the goalie coaches.
Thanks to Marcel Deveau for this gem.

Extra Goaltender Instruction
Goaltender clinics have also started up in Scotia 2 on Wednesday
afternoons at 4:30 pm.
These are coordinated by Kyle MacMillan.
These hour-long sessions are open to any goaltender, Novice through to
Midget, rep and house, to improve skills and get some individual
goaltending instruction.  Take advantage of these if you can.
For Goaltenders requiring equipment, please contact Scott Fairbairn and
he'll fix you up...

Extra Developmental Sessions
The early morning sessions last year were a great success.
Unfortunately, with Akerley closing, we don't have the extra hours this
year. However, we're working with the ice schedulers to find as many free hours
as possible to do some skill specific sessions.
Cross your fingers for this and we'll see what we can arrange.

We're also working on a few other developmental opportunities with Hockey
Canada and HNS so I'll be in touch.
In the meantime, feel free to send along any questions or comments.

I hope this helps get things off to a good start and again, sorry for the
delay in getting going.

Cheers,

Jeff Norrie
