FEMALE HOCKEY – Frequently Asked Questions:
  • All female teams in Cole Harbour hockey play competitively. They are not considered recreational teams but are what most people commonly refer to as REP teams. Where possible we provide a tiered approach with an AA team for more advanced players and an A team for those still developing their skills.
  • As these are competitive teams there is a tryout process where players are assessed by the coaches and placed on the appropriate team.
  • If there are not enough places on the team/teams for the girls trying out then the Female Coordinator will attempt to find a spot for them in female hockey with another association or offer the option of our association recreational program.
  • We anticipate icing teams at the Atom / PeeWee / Bantam / and Midget levels for the 2009-2010 season.
  • Other than the Atom level, we expect to field an AA team and an A team at each level.
  • Although Hockey Nova Scotia is looking to start the female program at the Novice level we do not anticipate having the numbers to support it this year. We will continue to examine this option based on registration numbers.

If you have any questions about the program please do not hesitate to contact me.

Yours truly,
